The Worst Day

Through objects your memories can become mine. I have a collection of found photographs, used to think about the ability of these objects to allow me to take on others memories and experiences. They also allow the investigation of the concept of nostalgia, why is is comforting to hold onto old pieces, even if they are not personally sentimental. By painting on the photographs there becomes a further sense of ownership of the experiences. The geometric shapes and the forms commonly used symbols in my work give a nod to the home and colours of Queensland urban landscape.

The Worst Day was written on the back of one of these photographs, and provides a sense of mystery and wonder about the past.
